coffee table

Arghhhh. Our glass coffee table has finally cracked. Not a huge crack but still, it makes me uneasy to think it could go at any minute. I'm convinced that the crack is where it was scratched by Tropical Storm Bill, in which case I suppose it has lasted much longer than it has any right to. I have two possibilities for a replacement, and I cleaned/sanded one of them yesterday.
True, we could just go to the auto glass place and have another glass table top cut, but since my "guest room" is an air mattress tossed on the living room floor, and I've become increasingly uneasy about the idea of my guests shambling about a glass coffee table in the dark after too much wine...well, I just think it's time to get rid of the glass in that area. I will take Fate's hint and go another route with the coffee table.
Oh gosh, I just read one of the other diaries this minute, and the writer is being charged $475 to repair a chair. You might well imagine the aghast-itude of the Peachfront. I repaired two dining room chairs yesterday for free with some wood glue and pressure. Once I get a little more room and organization around here, I should get serious about picking up wooden craigslist/freecycle items to repair, paint, and ornament with mosaic.
I have a mosaic box that I've done in Petrified Wood, which goes to the mosaic sealer tonight. I think it came out well and I may scribble a short tutorial.
